A timeline of 3-4 weeks for a full musical freestyle is recommended to allow ample time to consult, design, and submit a "draft" to the client, for the client to test ride, and for Ruth & the client to evaluate the freestyle. Ruth's Freestyle Background
Her first freestyle attempt with Elizabeth Ritz's “Aristocrat” resulted in her 1998 win at Devon in the Intermediare I freestyle. With this success, her interest in freestyles was fired. With her own Danish Warmblood "Mastermind," Ruth earned recognition as U.S. Region Eight 2001 Intermediare I Freestyle Champion.
Her first freestyle ridden in international competition was performed by Pierre St. Jacques, a member of the U.S. Equestrian Team participating in the 2003 Pan-American Games.
Ruth designed the well-matched “Space Odyssey” Freestyle for her longtime student, Junior Kate Venmar and her Danish Warmblood gelding Firaz Boland. From 1999-2002, Kate and “Fetz” earned Regional and Young Rider Freestyle championships from 2nd-4th levels with Ruth’s help.
She has also donated her editing skills for the benefit of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Ruth shaped “A Tribute to MoTown” to accompany the nine-minute, six-horse choreographed ride which was performed at a benefit luncheon on March 2nd, 2003, during the Palm Beach Dressage Derby at White Fences, Loxahatchee, FL.
